Massabesic High School Students are gearing up for the SeaPerch Challenge with the invaluable support of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Generously providing kits with materials, tools, and instruction booklets, as well as volunteer guidance, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard has empowered 24 students on 7 teams, to construct their own Remote Operated Vehicles (ROVs). Scott Swett, a technical education teacher at MHS, highlighted the unique hands-on experience that challenges students to build ROVs from scratch, fostering skills like soldering, drilling, measuring, and troubleshooting. These students will soon put their creations to the test, and one outstanding team will represent Massabesic High School at the 2024 Seacoast SeaPerch Challenge on April 5 at the University of New Hampshire. The challenge includes navigating obstacle courses, executing recovery missions, and presenting technical reports; providing students with a platform to practice deep thinking and problem-solving skills. NJROTC instructor Captain Douglas Howell emphasized his role as a student guide, encouraging critical thinking and hands-on learning in an environment where there's "no illusion that the teacher knows all." RSU 57 invites all to support these aspiring engineers and innovators during the SeaPerch Challenge. Good luck, Mustangs!

High School February Menus

Last night our Girls Basketball teams hosted Lewiston High School. Our crowd dressed in Blue to support the Lewiston community. Our team had custom Warm Ups made to match the Lewiston Team. All proceeds from the concessions were donated to Lewiston/Auburn Recreation. Overall it was a successful event and hopefully reinforced good sportsmanship and camaraderie.
