SAVE THE DATES! RSU 57 is proud to offer free groceries and toiletries through Youth Full Maine this summer! Products include fresh veggies, breads, milks, canned goods and personal hygiene items. Available items vary and are first come first serve. Distribution will take place from 11am-12pm on June 24, July 29 and August 19 from 11am-12pm at the Massabesic East Building. Please bring your own bags for this drive-up food pantry.

Last night, the RSU 57 School Board recognized two staff members and a group of students for their recent achievements in athletics. Athletic Director Daniel Lawrence presented MMS Phys Ed Teacher and Baseball Coach Tom Crews with a certificate of acknowledgement for his recent recognition as Class A Baseball Coach of the Year. Coach Crews led the Boys Baseball Team through a 9-7 season, which qualified them for the playoffs for the for the first time since 1989. Mr. Lawrence also presented MHS Wrestling Coach Joe Eon with a certificate for his acceptance into the Maine Amateur Wrestling Alliance Class of 2024 Hall of Fame. Coach Eon had an outstanding wrestling career during his time as a student at MHS and this year, he led the Wrestling Team to victory for a Class A State Championship Win. The Hall of Fame Induction ceremony will be held in August. Finally, Mr. Lawrence invited Jennifer Blair, MHS Math Teacher and Boys Track Coach to present certificates to student-athletes, who proudly received the MPA Class A Boys South Outdoor Track Sportsmanship Award this Spring. Congratulations to our outstanding RSU 57 student-athletes and coaches!

Last night, RSU 57 hosted three preliminary playoff games on the MHS Campus in Girls Lax, Baseball and Softball. We are proud to announce that ALL THREE TEAMS WON AND ARE HEADED TO THE QUARTERFINALS! The Softball Team beat Bonny Eagle 4-2 and will take on Chevrus TODAY at 3:30pm weather permitting (away game). The Girls Lacrosse Team beat Sanford 18-10 and will take on Falmouth June 7 at 1:30pm (away game). The Baseball Team beat Noble 2-0 and will face-off against Thornton Academy on a date TBD (away game). Good luck to our incredible student-athletes as they take on the rest of the playoffs!

Massabesic High School's NJROTC represented RSU 57 in parades across southern Maine this past Memorial Day weekend. Cadets proudly presented the Color Guard in Limerick, Lyman, Sanford and Biddeford/Saco parades; honoring military personnel who have passed while serving in the US Armed Forces.

Last night, the RSU 57 School Board recognized the MHS Class of 2024 Top Ten Students as well as four outstanding educators. Mr. Ty Thurlow shared the outstanding achievements of Zoey Storm, Sydney Duncan, Neveah Bartlett, Rebecca Hanlon, David Curtis, Marleigh Roy, Matt Letellier, Maya Beneszewski, Lucas Caron and Evelyn Hamilton. Students in attendance were joined and celebrated by their friends and family. Mr. Tim O'Connor, Director of Special Services commended School Psychologist Megg Waddell, who received the Early Career Practitioner Award from the Maine Association of School Psychologists, for the positive impact she has had within RSU 57. Mr. O'Connor also recognized Special Education teacher Danielle Swasey, who was nominated for the York County Teacher of the Year Award for her unwavering commitment to the success of her students. Mr. Tim Stinson recognized PE teacher Samantha Person who was named the MaineAHPERD 2023 Elementary PhysEd Teacher of the Year Award and who makes health and wellness fun and engaging for students at Waterboro Elementary and beyond. Finally, Mr. Thurlow recognized MHS Band Teacher Drew Halpin-Desmarais who received the Maine Music Educator Association's Outstanding New Music Teacher of the Year Award and who has made a lasting impact in the lives of students in his classroom and throughout MHS. Congratulations to all who were recognized!

This award is a tribute to those outstanding individuals who embody the qualities of a true “Model Mustang”; they inspire, lead, foster positivity, persevere, and excel in all that they do. Massabesic High School celebrated Senior Signing Day on Friday, May 17. Over 100 graduating seniors signed letters of intent that revealed their plans and goals for the next year which included joining the military, entering the workforce, attending college, and taking time to pursue their passions. We are incredibly proud of these students, their achievements, and future aspirations. This event marked a wonderful kickoff to the start of graduation season!
