Show dates are Friday, the 17th, and Saturday, the 18th, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, the 19th, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets on sale at the door. Cash sales only please.

The MMS Drama Club will present Into the Woods JR. on May 17th and 18th at 7:00 p.m. and on May 19th at 2:00 p.m.! With a book by James Lapine and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods JR. is based on a Broadway production that won several Tony Awards, including Best Score, Best Book, and Best Actress in a Musical. The musical follows a Baker and his Wife who learn they've been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door. The couple embarks on a quest – swindling, deceiving, and stealing from such already-victimized characters as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Jack (fresh off the beanstalk!) – to get the special objects required to break the spell. Tickets will be $9 at the door for adults, and $7 for students and seniors. For more information on the show please email christiandaigle@rsu57.org

RSU 57’s PK-7 Outreach and Attendance Coordinator Ms. Megan Wakefield was recently featured in a story on News Center Maine about the prevalence of food insecurity in York County. Collaborating with Youth Full Maine, the RSU 57 Community Closet provides low-barrier access to food and all-season clothing for students and families in need. Youth Full Maine brings food donations to our Community Closet which is available to all students and families within RSU 57. Additionally, RSU 57’s “Backpack Program” makes food accessible to students at each school or on an as-needed basis through our . To schedule a time to “shop” the closet or to learn about additional supports, please contact Ms. Wakefield via email at meganwakefield@rsu57.org. Students who are experiencing unstable housing under the McKinney-Vento Act may be eligible to receive specifically requested items such as winter gear and school supplies. During April Break, nine RSU 57 Transportation Department staff attended the Maine Association of Pupil Transport Conference, including Director of Transportation Richie Newton. Drivers, mechanics, and directors from throughout Maine discussed topics about maintaining a safe and respectful transportation environment for students and drivers; including complacency, health and wellness, and the error chain of effect. A driving skills competition was also held, and we are proud to announce that our very own mechanic Mark Bryant placed third, and will go on to the state championship! Mark has been with RSU 57 for one and a half years and we are so grateful to have him on our team!

It is with great excitement and pride that we announce the recipients of the Model Mustang Staff Award for the month of April! This award is a tribute to those outstanding individuals who embody the qualities of a true “Model Mustang”; they inspire, lead, foster positivity, persevere, and excel in all that they do. Each Model Mustang was nominated by colleagues who took the time to acknowledge and celebrate their coworkers’ exceptional contributions to our district. Their hard work and commitment have not gone unnoticed, and we are grateful for the positive impact they have within RSU 57! This month's winner is Jackie Chaplin from Alfred Elementary! "Jackie is a leader in our building through and through. She volunteers in a multitude of ways to support a variety of areas in our school. This includes direct instruction, individualized student support, community outreach, school-wide positive behavioral support implementation and "in the moment" help when needed. She always goes the extra mile, especially when she knows it will benefit our school community and is in the best interest of our kids. :) Thank you Jackie for all that you give, please know how appreciated you are!"
